Patricia Lee HarterJanuary 28th, 2011Patricia Lee Harter, a 50-year resident of East Norwalk passed away peacefully at Norwalk Hospital on Friday, January 28th following a long illness. Patricia was born in Auburn, New York in 1938 to Donald and Marie Harter. She is survived by daughters, Nicole Perron of Orange, Massachusetts, Natalie Nielsen of East Norwalk, and Edwina (and John) Walsh of Suwanee, Georgia; and beloved grandchildren Hilary Maheu of Orange, Massachusetts and Colin and Christopher Walsh of Suwanee, Georgia. Patricia is also survived by her siblings: Maureen (and Carl) Giordano of Orange, David (and Diana) of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Anne (and Philip) Gillotti of Southbury. Patricia was a graduate of Albertus Magnus College and Fordham University. She was a dedicated Clinical Social Worker who helped special needs children and their families at the A.C.E.S. (Area Cooperative Educational Services) Village School in North Haven for many years. An avid and accomplished sailor, Patricia enjoyed sailing the waters of Long Island Sound with family and friends. She was a direct descendant to John and Priscilla Alden of the Mayflower Society. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 5th, from 10:00 am to noon at Collins Funeral Home on 92 East Avenue in Norwalk. A service will follow at 12:00 noon at Collins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions in Patricia’s name be sent to the A.C.E.S. Education Foundation, c/o Carolyn McNally, 350 State Street, North Haven, CT 06473. To Pat’s Family, I have met so many of you and my heart goes out to you for your loss. Pat was a wonderful woman: strong, smart, beautiful, hard-working, tireless, fun, dependable… I could go on and on. We had a special friendship and I will miss her very much. Thanks for such a loving tribute to Pat. She was such an inspiration to us in Singles Under Sail and I will miss her wit and spirit. Thinking of you at this time.

Pat Harter can be conpared to a well-built wooden boat. She was the salwart hull, the bulkhead of SUS-an integral part of the organization, solid, strong, supportive.
