Eleni “Helen” YanniosFebruary 4, 2011Eleni “Helen” Yannios, 76 years old of Norwalk, CT, passed suddenly on Friday, February 4, 2011 at her home in Norwalk. She was born in the town of Maleme, on the Greek Island of Crete. She emigrated to the U.S. with her husband and children from Montreal, Canada in October 1969 and has resided in Norwalk since then. Eleni was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed. She has touched the hearts of so many with her generosity, humor and unconditional love. Her wisdom and integrity were the pillars of our family and will continue to guide us throughout our lives. She was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and was very well known and respected throughout the community. She is survived by her loving husband, Christos Yannios of 52 years. She is survived by her daughters Nota Yannios-Juengst and husband Steven; Anna Dimou and husband John; Doula Kutrubis and husband Panayiotis; and son Anthony Yannios. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Danny and wife Grace, Sophia, Tia, Eleni, Efthimia, Georgios, and Christos as well as her two great-grandchildren Daniel and Michael. Friends may call Sunday, February 6 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Funeral services will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT 06851 on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to: St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT 06851.
