Carol A. “Basone” CowperthwaitDecember 30, 1948 ~ October 30, 2011Carol A. “ Basone” Cowperthwait, 62, of Glens Falls, New York, died on Sunday October 30, 2011. She lived in Glens Falls for the last 8 years. She was born on Dec. 30, 1948 in Norwalk, Ct. to the late Karl and Catherine Ganung Basone. Carol was a graduate of St. Joseph Elementary School and Central Catholic High School. She worked for the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency for 6 years. She retired from Xerox Corporation after 20 years as the Office Manager/Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO of Financial Services. She was an avid member of the South Norwalk Boat Club and was on the Board of Directors of the Inter-Club Flounder Tournament for many years. Carol enjoyed boating and fishing and was a member of the Elks Club Lodge # 81 of Glens Falls, New York. Survivors include a brother, Karl Basone and his wife Sharon of Fairfield, a daughter, Keri O’Neill and her husband Ted of Fairfield, a son Robert Cowperthwait of Norwalk, a granddaughter Grace and 2 grandsons George and Grady O’Neill of Fairfield and two nieces Kristen Basone and Lisa Sauer. She also leaves many dear friends and devoted friends in Connecticut, New York and Ohio. Visitation with the family will be at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk on Saturday November 5th from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. The Reverend Victor T. Martin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the South Norwalk Boat Club Scholarship Fund, 17 Mack Street, Norwalk, CT 06854.
