Kathleen “Kathy” Brady LaJoieOctober 16, 1939 - October 15, 2011Kathleen “Kathy” Brady LaJoie passed peacefully into Our Lord’s arms Saturday October 15th, one day before her 72nd birthday, following a valiant 2 year battle with liver cancer. Born and raised in Norwalk, Kathy is survived by “The Love of Her Life” Donald LaJoie, whom she met while in high school. Don and Kathy have been married for 53 years. Kathy, passionately referred to as “Memere”, loved her time as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Parochial School throughout her children’s early school years. Kathy LOVED being a Mom, not only for her own children but to so many others as well. Kathy was the ultimate lifelong cheerleader for her husband’s auto racing career then her son Randy’s NASCAR career and most recently her grandson Corey’s. Kathy was predeceased by her son Ronnie. Her legacy lives on in her children, son Randy (Lisa) LaJoie of Concord, NC, and daughters Missy (Jim) Murphy of Fairfield and Linda (Tim) Lay of Norwalk. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Erin, Corey, Ryan, Casey, Kayla & Megan as well as granddogs Lucky-Bella and Ollie. The family would like to thank Krissy Marsan as well as Linda and Tim Lay, who were Kathy’s major care givers over the last several months. The family would also like to thank Connecticut Hospice. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405 203-315-7500.

kathy is an inspiration to me,two weeks ago i asked her how she was handling her illness-she said she was trusting in god-that he would handle everything and everyone-that she was calm and had faith in him. what a great women-and example for us all-she lived by her faith and most of all died by it.

To The LaJoie Family,
October 18, 2011
Deepest sympathy to everyone in the LaJoie family. Mrs. La Joie was one of those people who touched your life in a way that you never forgot — a truly special woman. My best memory (and there are many) is of the day that I turned 16. She arrived at my house with an adorable beagle puppy…she hadn’t asked my mom (she knew what the reaction and the answer would be) so it was a surprise for everyone. There was no way anyone could turn away that sweet little dog, and there was no way that my mom was going to say no to Mrs. LaJoie. I feel very blessed to have known her. She was one in a million. God bless all of you.
