It was with a double sadness that I read your Dad’s obituary last week, because I had not known that your mother had predeceased him. That was a surprise to me. My relationship with your father, in particular, goes back many years to the early 1940′s when we were both members of the Paterson DeMolay. Years passed, but the friendship survived through other mutual friends and then finally, as you know, through our professional relationship. My memory of your Dad will always be of his gentleness and kindness to others. His final years were so difficult and so very unlike the younger man.
I have shared the obituary with our other mutual DeMolay and Rainbow Girl friends who survive. Although I shall not name them, they all send their condolences to you, along with mine. Sincerely, ED HOOK

Although we have never met, I wanted to offer you my condolences on the passing of your father last year. I knew your mother and father very briefly back in the early 60′s when I was a young girl. I remember them as “Aunt Betty and Uncle Les” and we used to stop by and see them when we visited our Uncle Gustav and Aunt Ida up at Erskine Lake. My father, Otto Gross, passed away in 2010 and Uncle Gustav was my dad’s uncle (Gustav’s brother, Otto, was my dad’s stepfather in Hamburg, Germany). Uncle Gustav was so kind to my father and sponsored him to come to American in 1954. I know that my parents, Otto & Ursula, had some great times with Gus & Charlotte and Betty & Les. I can tell by the photos my parents kept. I remember Uncle Les as a very gentle, kind man and Aunt Betty as a very beautiful and fashionable lady. I was also so happy to learn that you are their daughter!
