Charles Frederick Singewald
November 21, 1941 ~ December 30, 2011
Charles Frederick Singewald, 70, passed away December 31, 2011 in his home in Weston. Born in Norwalk November 21, 1941, he was son of the late Fredrick “Carl” Singewald and Georgia Marie Delamar Singewald.
Mr. Singewald served in the Marine Corps during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He later worked as an owner and operator of Norwalk Linen Service Inc. and Elegant Table Linens. He will be remembered as a loving father, loving “papa” to his grandson Jack, and a good friend to many.
Mr. Singewald is survived by his two sons Michael Singewald and his wife Yeire of Norwalk and Christopher Singewald of Fairfield, and by his grandchildren Jack and Roxee. He is also survived by his brother Alan Singewald of Norwalk and his sister Lalah Dee Chaney of Dallas, TX and by his ex-wife and close friend Connie Brank of Trumbull. He was predeceased by his brother James “Wally” Singewald.

There are no words that can express the loss of family member, especially an individual like Charlie. I have been very blessed to know Michael and his family most of my adult life and especially Charlie. I have great memories of times with Michael and his dad both helping out at Norwalk Linen and times spent at our lake house. I would often visit Michael at work and would run into Charlie and he would always have something outrageous and funny to say that would make me smile. You left us too soon . . . We’re left with so many memories of our days at Norwalk High School. Then there were those fun days of 1963-1964 when we returned home after the service, Navy for me and Marine Corps for you. Friday nights at the “Sky View” in Darien, our vacation trip to San Juan in April, 1964, remembering you driving your mom’s little white Italian car every chance you got. I found pictures of you just yesterday as I leafed through an old family album. There you were, standing next to that sports car with the top down in my drive way. You went on to build the Norwalk Linen business with your brother Alan, and I went back to school. Our lives moved on.
I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to visit before you left. We’re going to miss you, Charlie.

We are devestated to hear of the loss of Charlie, a dear friend here at the bank. Everyday he came in he would put a smile on our faces and make us laugh with his one-of-a-kind charisma and hilarious stories. Nobody could ever replace him, and he will be deeply missed.
