Jakob K. Soyland

Jakob K. Soyland, 84, husband of Ellen Soyland of Sandy Hook, formerly of Norwalk passed away suddenly May 6th, 2014 at home.
Jake was born in Norway and served in the Norwegian German Brigade #492 in Germany in 1949. He emigrated to the United States in 1955 and married his wife Ellen at the Norwegian Seaman’s Church in Brooklyn NY in 1957. They settled in Norwalk, CT and lived there for 37 years. He was a Master Carpenter and co owner of Scandinavian Carpentry until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Ellen, Son Tore and his wife Ellen of Grimstad, Norway, Daughter Marie and Husband Mickey of Clearwater Fl, Son John and wife Leslie of Norwalk, Son Kenneth and wife Susan of Brookfield, Daughter June and husband George of Monroe, Son Steven and Wife Patricia of Southport. Grandsons Michael, John, Andy, Erik, Alex, Kristopher and Matthew, and granddaughters Jennifer, Tanja, Angelina, Rachel, Nicole and Taylor. And great grandchildren Ayden and Sophie.
He is predeceased by his parents Lars and Johanne Soyland and Brothers Otto and Leif of Lista, Norway.
Friends may call Friday, May 9th, from 5 to 8 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, May 10th, at 10:00 AM. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.
