Raymond Casey Liu
Raymond Casey Liu, 89, was the husband of Mary Ann Liu for 65 years, passed away on Thursday, October 12, in Norwalk, CT.
He was born in Tainan, Taiwan. Ray earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University and then a master’s degree from Ohio State University. In 1964 he was hired by Perkin-Elmer and settled in Norwalk. He remained active with the company until age 79, when he retired as a senior electronics design engineer in the electro-optical and Micralign semiconductor divisions.
Ray enjoyed singing, golf and sharing many stories of his experiences with family and friends. Despite his many obligations, he found time to write three memoirs on Taiwan history and his family’s background.
Ray was a long-time member of Norwalk United Methodist Church (now Cornerstone Community Church). He was kind to many and a loving, and generous person.
Ray was predeceased by his son, George, his sister Helen Lai and older brother, Kai-Tso and his wife Lily. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, son Bob of Chapel Hill, NC, daughter Shirley Liu Fong, her husband Conrad, son Geoffrey of Burlington, MA, his brother Robin and wife Shou-Shou of Taipei, Taiwan, brother Percy and wife Lucile, of Winchester, MA. Also, the husband of Helen Lai, Dr. Y. H. Lai and brother-in-law, J. Y. Chu from Taipei, Taiwan.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Services will be held graveside on Wednesday, October 18, at 11:00 am, at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 28, at 1:00 PM at the Cornerstone Community Church.
