Services:

There will be a Christian Burial service at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 25 Pepper Street, Monroe, CT at 11:00 am on Thursday October 20, 2016.

Burial:

Immediately following the Mass, she will be buried besides her late mother in St. John’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Camp Ave in Darien, CT.

Donations:

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel.

December 2, 1939 - October 15, 2016

Betty A. Pia, 76, residence of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away early Saturday morning on October 15, 2016. Born December 2, 1939, she was the oldest daughter of the late William O’Grady and Marion Matzenger O’Grady.

Mrs. Pia graduated from Stamford High School where she then went on to start a family, work for the SNET Phone Company, and found her career book keeping for City Carting and Recycling, a company she stayed with for over 30 years. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Monroe from 1976 to the present day. She was a blessing to those who knew her, and a mother figure to anyone lacking one.

She is survived by sons, Michael T. Pia of Norwalk, CT and Jeffery W. Pia of East Windsor, CT; 3 granddaughters, Ashley and Jennifer Pia of Norwalk, CT and Emily Burke of Southington, CT; 5 siblings, Kathleen Bellantonio of Palm Springs, FL, William O’Grady of Trumbull, CT, Marion Olson of Phoenix, AZ, Karen O’Grady of Naugatuck, CT, and Debra O’Grady of Norwalk, CT; mother-in- law Norma Pia of Norwalk, CT and sister-in- law Barbra Varunes of Stamford, CT as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
