The funeral will be private.  Friends and family are invited to visit, talk about memories and share their stories at the family home. Visiting will be at 31 Soundview Drive, Westport, CT from Thursday January 17th through Sunday January 20th, noon to 8:00 pm.

Charlene Margot Girden


June 20, 1935 - January 16, 2019

Charlene Margot Girden, born June 20, 1935 in Norwalk Hospital, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, surrounded by loved ones. Her husband of 53 years Eugene Girden, her mother Sophie Tobin and father Norman Tobin predeceased her.  She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Girden-Barkan (Seth Barkan), her son, Steve Girden and grandchildren; Lindsay Girden (Tyler Blatchley), Alex Girden and Emelie Wittenberg.

Charlene spent most of her adult life in Stamford, CT where she was a member of Rockrimmon Country Club for 45 years. Our “Charbubble” was a social butterfly who loved her friends like they were her family. She served on PTA committees and volunteered as a Den mother and baseball mom and enjoyed playing canasta, bridge and mah jongg. Charlene was an avid tennis player and golfer. She kept active with many charities and was a huge supporter of the arts, which included membership in The Actors Fund.
