"Mr. Charles"

 Charlie Charles, husband of the late Annamary Charles, of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014. “Mr. Charles”, as he was known to family and friends was born in India in 1926. He was the son of the late Charlie Pedro and Lillian Arokiamary.

Mr. Charles’ life’s journey encompassed three nations – Burma, India and the United States. He was a man of many talents and gifts and used them in the service of his family and friends. He worked as a General Manager in Food & Beverage Service at the American Embassy (New Delhi) for more than 25 years and worked at the Stamford Marriott. After his retirement, he spent his time and talent at the service of the clergy at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish rectory.  He was very devoted to St. Anthony, and also spearheaded the devotion of St. Sebastian of over 110 years passed on to him from his family in Burma.

Mr. Charles is survived by his 8 sons and 3 daughters – Anthony (Pauline), Rita (Nathan), Peter (Nancy), Richard (Antonia), John (Susan), Victor (Mary), Salina (Augustine), Martin (Gladys), Alice (Binder), Albert (Liza) and Simon (Margaret); 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews in US, India and Burma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 25, at 11:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Burial will follow in St. John cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

Friends may call on Monday, March 24, from 5 to 8 PM, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.

Memorial Contributions in Mr. Charles’ honor can be made to St. Thomas the Apostle church.

  1. Mr. Charles, I have always looked at him as a father figure, always caring and concerned about everyone he came across. He was a very devote person and was extra helpful towards the religious. We will dearly miss him on our visits to Norwalk. May your Soul rest in peace and we will miss you.
