Clive Morrison, age 75, a 50 year resident of Norwalk, passed away on December 9,2014 in Stamford Hospital.
Clive was born December 15,1938, in Brooklyn, NY, and was a son of the late Roger and Edith Taylor Morrison and the step-son of Gregory Fried. The Morrison family moved to Norwalk in 1951 and Clive graduated from Norwalk High in 1956 going on to the U. of Conn. at Storrs. He was an Army Veteran, serving in the Conn. National Guard from 1961 to 1967. In 1964 he married Judy Jones and they had 50 wonderful years together. For most of his business career, Clive was a commodities buyer in the coffee trade and worked for Nestle and the Weschler Coffee Co. In the early 70’s Clive became involved in Norwalk politics and headed an inquiry into the First Taxing District Water Dept. He went on to run for City Council from Ward A but lost in a primary. He was chairman of the Reform Democrats for a year and later served on the Norwalk Shellfish Commission and the Historical Commission.
In 1979 Clive and his mother went to a tag sale and came home owning an island. Cedar Hammocks, one of the Norwalk Islands became the adventure of a life time and brought joy to family, friends and everyone who visited. People traveled from several states to participate in the annual Spam Carving Contest. Clive was very interested in the history of Norwalk and helped to compile a book on the history of the Rowayton Yacht Club at the time of their 25th anniversary. He was an avid post card collector and had many interesting cards of Norwalk.
