Dimitrios Kalomenidis, 76 husband of Anastasia Kalomenidis passed away on Sunday July 12, 2020 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born on June 6, 1944 in Patra, Greece he was the son of late Miltiadis and Maria (Sismanidis) Kalomenidis. Dimitrios known to many as Mimi was raised in Thessaloniki Greece. He attended a high school specializing in business. He then moved to Athens where he attended OΠE University of Athens (Business Economics/ Political Science) He moved to the USA in the fall of 1971 to join his parents and sisters. Mimi was highly known in the Greek community and even served as Greek School President for many years while his kids were in the program. He started Mimi’s Travel in the early 80’s. People that know him know that he was an avid PAOK FC fan. He was loud, always happy and known to be the life of that party. There were not many family events where he wasn’t holding a camcorder to capture the special moments. He adored being around his grandkids that brought him so much joy.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anastasia, his son Miltiadis (Milton) and his wife Sophie of Fairfield, CT his daughter Maria and her husband Spiro of Remsenburg, NY, his grandkids George and Christina of Remsenburg, NY and Dimitrios and Anastasia of Fairfield, CT. He is also survived by his sisters, Efthymia (Mimi) and her husband Lazaros (Laki) of Norwalk, CT and Anastasia Argitakos of Hartford, CT. His nephew Argiris Argitakos of Hartford, CT and his niece Konstantina and her husband Vinny Piccirillo of Port St. Lucie, FL.
His funeral will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Norwalk, CT on Tuesday July 28, 2020 at 11 am. Due to the pandemic restrictions this service will be private. The burial will be at Riverside Cemetery at 12 noon and is open for all his friends that wish to pay their respects. Social distancing and masks are required.
