Douglas C. CampbellAugust 23, 1949 - April 9, 2016Douglas C. Campbell, 66, a longtime Norwalk, CT resident passed away after a long illness at Norwalk Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born in Detroit, MI on August 23, 1949. He moved from Michigan to Valley Forge, PA as a child with his parents, the late James and Phyliss Morrissey Campbell. Doug attended Penn State University, then attended and graduated from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA. After graduating college, he moved to CT where he worked at Pitney Bowes World Headquarters in Stamford, CT and worked for a short time at Oxford Health Plans/UnitedHealthcare in Trumbull, CT. Doug was a lover of sailing and the sea shore and enjoyed travel, especially to Key West, FL and Cape Cod, MA. He was also a lover of dogs, especially his late beloved Clancy and his surviving beloved Hunter, both Wheaten Terriers. Doug loved Corvettes, his Penn State Nittany Lion Football team and NY Giants Football team, both of which he would root for each week. Doug is survived by his beloved wife of almost 19 years, and best friend, Diane (Greeney) Campbell. Doug is also survived by his Mother-in-law, Dorothea Greeney, of Stamford, CT, four Sisters-in-law, Deborah Kutz (Gary), of Clinton, CT, Mary Dolan (Jeff), of Stamford, CT, Carol Schenkel (Bob), of Stamford, CT. Also surviving are three Brothers-in-law, Walter, Michael and Robert Greeney of Stamford, CT as well as four nephews and four nieces, his “brother” Steve Kachniasz (Nancy), of Elizabethtown, PA, cousins and many close friends. In addition to his parents, Doug was pre-deceased by his Father-in-law, Walter J. Greeney Sr. The family will receive visitors to a memorial wake on Saturday, April 16th from 11:00 – 1:00 in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A brief prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Donations can be made in Doug’s name to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), The American Lung Association (www.lung.org ) and the ASPCA (www.aspca.org). Diane, It was such a gift from God to have Doug in our family for 19 years. He is a beloved brother. He was a real trooper and an inspiration to all of us because of his courage in battling his illness. Our love and sympathy go out to you. We mourn his passing with you and our prayers are with you .
