Douglas W. Riddell Jr. 69, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 in his home. Born April 27, 1943, in Norwalk, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Douglas W. Riddell Sr. and Lois Williams Riddell. He was also the grandson of the late Stanley and Blanche Puterbaugh.

Doug was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, attended Norwalk Public Schools, and went on to proudly serve our country in the Air Force. He was the manager of NAPA-Patchen’s  Auto Parts and previously owned D&D Performance in Ridgefield, CT. Being a lifelong race car enthusiast, Doug began as a driver at the former Danbury Race arena and continued on to serve as a crew member for various teams even up to his passing. He was also an avid model hobbyist and spent countless hours building anything from model trains to remote controlled cars. Doug served numerous years for the Norwalk Seaport Association, acting as chairperson for their annual Oyster Festival. He will be sorely missed by his beloved pal Roscoe.

Doug is survived by his son Rob Riddell, daughter in law Becky Riddell and grandson Aidan Riddell, all of Norwalk. He is also survived by his former wife Donna Riddell of Hamden.

A memorial wake will be held on Tuesday, January 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Friends may gather at 10:00 AM for the graveside service on Wednesday, January 30, at the Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Norwalk Seaport Association (www.seaport.org).
