DR. RICHARD BANCROFT HEILMAN
Dr. Richard Bancroft Heilman, 92, died February 17, 2011 of complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease. He has been a resident of Honey Hill Care Center in Norwalk since 2004.
Dr. Heilman was born in Madison, WI. He served in World War II in the Pacific theater. He graduated from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine. With his wife, Mary McNally Heilman, who predeceased him, Dr. Heilman traveled the southeast in a mobile medical unit providing diagnostic services for the members of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Long before most were thinking about health care for the disadvantaged, he was providing it.
