Dr. Saul M. Scherzer


Dr. Saul M. Scherzer, 76, of Westport, died Monday, March 24, at the Norwalk Hospital.

Dr. Saul is survived by his devoted wife, Leah Scherzer of 51 years, his son, DJ and his wife Becky of Columbus, Ohio, his daughter, Sandy Gross of Greenwich, CT, and four grandchildren – Jamie 22, Dana 18, Jacob 9 and Julie 8.

Dr. Saul was a consulting psychologist for over forty years working with corporations in the USA, Europe and Asia.  He consulted to more than 25 Chief Executives and worked with major corporations:  General Electric, Black & Decker, Revlon, International Paper, Union Camp, Champion International, Citicorp, Halliburton, International Flavors & Fragrances, Dresser-Rand and others, involving mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other significant changing cultures.

Dr. Saul had been on the faculty of several New York based universities, teaching organizational behavior courses for over 15 years and had been an advisor to graduate students involved in organizational research.  Prior to being a consultant, he was Director of Organization Development for GE, Director of Management Development for ITT and a management consultant for Booz & Co.

He was an avid swimmer.  He was proud to have swum 25 times in Westport’s point-to-point annual event at Compo Beach.   He was a competitive swimmer with the US Masters Swimming Organization and was a swimming instructor for adults at the Westport Y.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, March 27, at the Collins Funeral Home, Norwalk.
