Edward A. Mirek

Edward A. Mirek, 86, of Norwalk, husband of the late Joan (Bianco) Mirek, died Thursday in Connecticut Hospice, Branford.
Born in Stamford, he was the son of the late Ignacy and Caroline (Osika) Mirek. Mr. Mirek was a retired sheet metal mechanic who worked in the local area. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and member of the 192nd Field Artillery Battalion Association. Mr. Mirek was a 53-year member and 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, St. Augustine Council 41, Stamford, CT. He was also a very passionate New York Yankee and New York Giants fan, and thoroughly enjoyed doing word search puzzles, watching old movies and having morning coffee in Darien with his friends.
Surviving is his son, Stephen J. Mirek, and daughter-in-law Tracy (Deer) of Stratford. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony, Joseph and Frances. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Alan Bianco and wife Fran of Stamford; sisters-in-law Janice Bianco of Milford and Kathy Crosby of Norwalk and their families whose frequent visits were a treasured gift.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 28, at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, September 27, from 4-7 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.
