Eileen A. (Weed) Burkhardt, 86, wife of the late Kenneth Burkhardt of Orange, formerly of Norwalk died peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2012.

In addition to her husband, Eileen was predeceased by her sister Patricia Greene and her brother Charles Weed.

Eileen is survived by sisters Julia Yeo of Groton and Harriett Schutte of New Canaan.  Along with her children, Kenneth Burkhardt and wife Donna of Canton, Sheila Moseley and husband Robert of Shelton, Anne Hatkoff and husband Andrew of Milford, Eileen DiBerardino and husband Walter of Trumbull, six grandchildren, Matthew, Julia, Alexander, Luke, Katherine and  Olivia.

Eileen was born in New Canaan on April 6, 1926. She retired from Perkin Elmer in Norwalk after 25 years of service as an Export Documentation Specialist.

Eileen was voted “best dancer” at New Canaan High School, Class of 1941. She was always an inspiration to all she met because of her unwavering Catholic faith, outstanding sense of humor and her fighting Irish spirit.

Friends may gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Eileen’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
