February 26, 1935 ~ July 26, 2013

 Elida Elena Calderon, age 78, of Norwalk, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Norwalk Hospital. She was the loving wife of Felipe N. Calderon. Elida was born in Guatemala on February 26, 1935, the daughter of the late Virginia del Carmen Aquino and Ricardo Reyes and has lived locally since 1985. She was a former resident of Greenwich. Elida was very loving, giving and patient. After raising her own children she took great joy helping out with her 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, for whom her love was unconditional. She was also a caretaker for many people outside of the family.

 In addition to her husband, Elida is survived by her children Gustavo A. Aquino (Tracy), Nery F. Calderon (Nidia), Sergio G. Calderon (Michelle), Maria del Carmen Ramirez (Javier), Ricardo A. Calderon, Elida A. Calderon, Ivan Alfonso Calderon(Christine), Marta (Lisa) E. Calderon; her siblings Rolando, Evangelina, Vilma, Nidia, Berta, Angela, Ricardo, and Rene, Patricia. Elida had 23 grandchildren, Gustavo Jr, Kimberly, Meghan, Jonathan, Esteban, Mathew, Peter, Samantha, Jasmine, Paul, Amanda, Erica, Tyler, Philip, Nicolette, Andrew, Joelle, Rachel, Julia, Taryn, Jordyn, Troy and Hunter. She also had 19 great grandchildren, Ethan, Faith, Xavier, Emma, Louie, Graciela, Alexis, Brendan, Joshua, Michael, Annieah, Nala, Aubrey, Melody, Chase, Liliana, Aaron, Jacob, and Anthony as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Leonardo and Edwin Reyes.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk. Elida’s family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk . Contributions in her name may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
