Frederick N. Hill, Jr.

June 7, 1957 - November 20, 2019

Frederick N. Hill, Jr., 62, passed away on November 20, 2019 surrounded by family. Fred was born on June 7, 1957 to Jeannette and the late Frederick Hill, Sr. Fred married Patricia Long in 1987, and together they raised their three children, Maive Howard (JP), the late Charles Tyler, and Michael in Wilton, CT. He is additionally survived by his sisters, Claire and Debbie (David Reinholt), many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Fred was a devoted husband and father who was also the best uncle, son, brother, brother-in-law, and lifelong friend to many and was always available to those who needed him. From playing basketball and softball, to coaching youth sports, and founding his New Canaan based business, FH Roofing, Fred was a lifelong active member of the Fairfield County community. Words cannot describe the impact that he has left on all of our hearts. Fred’s legacy will be carried on by all who love him.

  • Dear Pat, Maive, JP and Michael

The Hill family has always included so many people, both family and friends, into their hearts and their home. Fred was always welcoming, smiling and enjoying the party along with his guests. He will be missed for his kindness, his smile and his caring. Rest well, Fred.

  • Saddened to hear that “Freddy the Hill” is gone. Always the nicest guy in the driveway playing basketball in the neighborhood with my little bro Tom and the others. He had a super laugh. He will be missed by lots of people.

  • I am so saddened to see the obituary for Fred. The 20 years I have owned my house in Wilton, I could always rely on Fred to do a great job with my roofs and when I needed advise he was always honest and knowledgeable of his trade. When he would come by to look at something for me, we would start chatting about old New Canaan and life in general. He always had a smile on his face and a great laugh. I live on New Canaan Road and I will miss Fred driving by and tooting his horn. Just a incredibly nice guy. I am not able to make any of the services for Fred. I will be in Vermont for the weekend but I will keep Fred’s family in my thoughts and prayers. May Fred’s smile, laughter, and the memories bring you comfort during this difficult time. So sorry for your loss. He will be surely missed!

  • So sad. Freddy was so kind and helpful on the basketball court to his teammates and me. Played in several St A’s charity tournaments against Freddy with Lee Jones, robert Jones. Freddy and his team always beat us easily and Freddy was smiling as he sank his 20 footers. Seemed like he never broke a sweat. While we were exhausted running around in frustration. It was a pleasure to lose to Freddy and we hate losing, but Freddy made the game a pleasure to be with him, once again, on the basketball court. Rest well Freddy Hill.

  • Dearest Pat, Mike, Maive and JP,

There are no words to express the grief we feel at Fred’s passing. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend… someone we have loved, admired, and enjoyed thoroughly for so many years. The bond between our families has been a tremendous source of joy to us, and it breaks our hearts to know that from now on there will be one missing link. Our hearts go out to you as we know that your grief will be the hardest to bare. We pray that it helps to know that the three of you filled his life with love, pride and joy… and to know he is in a better place, alongside Tyler, making heaven an even brighter and more beautiful place. We send our love and condolences to your entire extended family.
    We love you all!
