George E. Papadopoulos

George E.Papadopoulos, 84, husband of Katy Papadopoulos passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 3, 1930 in Agoriani, Greece, he was the son of the late Evangelosand Sophia Papadopoulos. He came to the US in 1952. He enlisted in the army and was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey in 1953. He later owned and opened Shore Points Diner in Norwalk, CT and The Greenwich Restaurant in Greenwich, CT. Upon his retirement he owned and operated Top Coffee Shop in Norwalk. He was also an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and AHEPA.
He loved to garden, walking on the beach and cooking for friends and family. More importantly he loved his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katy; daughter, Sophia Maragos and her husband Angelo of Westport; grandchildren Patricia and Jonathon Maragos; son, Evan of New Canaan; his sisters Eleni Psathas and Panagiota Patsis of Greece; his brother, predeceased, Constantino of Greece.
His family will receive family and friends on Sunday, January 11th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock on Monday, January 12th at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Rd., Norwalk with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk.
