Services:

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00  AM in Assumption Church, 33 Riverside Avenue, Westport, CT. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol at a later time.

Donations:

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Notre Dame Health and Rehab Center, 76 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT 06851.

Hedwig Mildred Anderson


September 30, 1913 - May 7, 2018

Hedwig Mildred Anderson, 104, wife of the late Arnold Anderson of Bristol CT, passed away on May 7, 2018 in Norwalk CT.

Born in Collinsville, CT on September 30, 1913, she was the daughter of Victor and Stephanie Klimovitch. Hedy was a member of the first graduating class of Central Connecticut State University, taught English in elementary schools in Bristol, CT and was an active and faithful member of St. Stanislaus Church in Bristol and Assumption Parish in Westport, CT.

She was an independent woman before it was popular, President of her College graduating class, President of her debate team and recently President of the Resident Council at Notre Dame. She is survived by her daughter Elaine Greene and her husband William of Westport, CT, and her son Arnold (Andy) Anderson and Elizabeth Larsen of Lebanon, New Hampshire, her son-in-law Allan Burman and MJ Williard of Arlington, Virginia; six grandchildren, William Greene, Zoe Sherlick, Sean Greene, Erin Greene, Rebecca Anderson and Moira Dow; 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, her daughter, Christine Burman of Arlington, Virginia, predeceased her.

  1. What a sad day to learn of Aunt Hed’s passing. She was an inspiration and a dear friend. Tom and I wish we could be there for the service; please know our loving thoughts are with you.

  • Although I did not know Aunt Hed very well since I live in another state, i remember visiting her and Uncle Andy with my family when I was young. What I remember is her taking a significant time to sit down and talk with me individually. Being the youngest person in the family, I was not used to that kind of individual attention (youth are often overlooked in the world of adult interactions). I was very moved by that. I would have liked to know her more. Perhaps I will someday. God bless and love to all the family. .
