James Joseph Goggins


October 27, 1921 - October 3, 2011

James Joseph Goggins, 89, of Norwalk, husband of the late Ruth Hoyt Goggins, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Norwalk Hospital.  Born in Manhattan on October 27, 1921, he was son of the late James and Julia Carroll Goggins.

Mr. Goggins served in the Coast Guard as a Radioman 1st Class on the Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Camp 251. During WWII he was on convoy duty and anti-submarine patrol in the North Atlantic. He later worked as a machinist for ABCO Manufacturing.

He is survived by his brother John “Jack” Goggins of Norwalk; step-daughter Jean Bardos (Allan) of Norwalk; grandson Allan Bardos (Irina) of Memphis, TN; and granddaughter Diane DiPietro (Alan) of Norwalk.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Steven and Jillian Bardos and John, Joseph, and Erin DiPietro, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.  Arrangements are in the care of Collins Funeral Home.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Losing someone is always hard and a grandfather is such a cherished person is all our lives and the lives of our children. If your grandfather was anything like you, Diane, I know he will be very missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
