Jean Hans Schaer

Jean Hans Schaer, 85, of Norwalk, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 15th.
Born in Zaugenried, Bern, Switzerland, May 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Otto and Rosa Buetikofer Schaer. Mr. Schaer immigrated to the U. S. in 1961, and has been a Norwalk resident since 1963. A machinist and decolleteur by training, he worked for Bechler SA of Moutier, Switzerland for 25 years. He later founded his own company, Hannes Precision in Norwalk.
Proud of his Swiss heritage, Mr. Schaer was a member of the Swiss American Association of Connecticut and The Baere Club of New York. A lover of music, he enjoyed being a member of the Norwalk Community Chorale.
Survivors include two sons; Raymond Schaer and his wife Beverly, of West Redding, Bernard Schaer and his wife Cynthia, of Silvermine, five grandchildren; Henry and William Schaer, Rachael, Ava and Nathaniel Schaer, and longtime companion Marianne Paprotna of Old Greenwich. He was the former husband of Beatrice Schaer of Stratford.
Friends may call Friday, July 17th, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, from 4:00 to 7:45 P.M. At 7:45 P. M., there will be a prayer service.
