Mrs. Josephine (Giuseppina) M. Muoio, of South Norwalk, CT., passed away peacefully with the Lord watching over her on February 18th, 2018 at Notre Dame Health and Rehabilitation Center in Norwalk. Her daughter Joan and granddaughter Jennifer were at her bedside. Josephine was born in Provincia Di Aquila, Comune Di Scurcola Marsicana Italy on July 21, 1923. She was the daughter of the (late) Antonio and Vincenza (Cotugno) Palma. Her family came over in 1929 from Italy through Ellis Island and made the transition of becoming American Citizens. Josephine grew up in South Norwalk, Danbury, and Torrington, CT.  She attended Benjamin Franklin Jr. HS.  Josephine worked at GE during WWII, The Silver Shoe Factory and Swanks as a sewing machine operator. Old McDonalds Farm, and Artum Manor as a waitress.

Josephine loved being with family, friends and helping her husband Frank with the family business. You might find her going on towing jobs with Frank or helping in the office with the customers and brewing a pot of coffee for dad.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband Frank of 63 years; her daughter Christine Genet, her sons Frankie and a newborn baby boy (David), her son-in-law Lou Palisano, her sister Elda (Don) Pacific, her brothers Pat (Margot) Palma, Nello (Julia) Palma, sister-in-law Mary Palma (Florida), and Franks’ brother & sisters and their spouses.

Josephine is survived by her brother Carlo Palma (Florida). Daughters Ann Palisano, Joan & Richard Thane, and her son John and his fiancée Andrea. Grandchildren Jennifer & Joe Buddy, Richie & Andrea Thane, John & Michael Palisano, Raymond Genet, Frank & Ann Muoio, Angela Muoio, Dominic & Michele Muoio.  Great grandchildren, Johnathan Fumega, David Buddy, Michael & Owen Thane, Avery Mae & Devyn Rae Genet, Illario, Cole, & William Muoio, and Henry & Peter Muoio.  Josephine also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. We will remember our mother as a loving wife, grandmother, great grandmother, Aunt and friend.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Notre Dame and Wilton Meadows for their Compassion and Love towards our mother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 3, at 10:00am in the Notre Dame Chapel on 76 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT, followed by St. Mary’s Cemetery, Broad Street, Norwalk, CT.  In lieu of flowers a donation in Josephine’s memory can be sent to Sisters of St. Thomas Villanova, 76 West Rocks Road, Norwalk, CT.

  1. Joan and John and family we are sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. As we never meet her I feel she was a very much a loved woman from you all. I have enjoyed the pictures Joan would share on Facebook, she would always look so at peace. I am sure she will be missed. May all the years of fond memories help to heal your sorrow.
