Lester O. Platt, Jr.


 

Lester Oliver Platt Jr., 77, of Norwalk, CT died Saturday at home. He was the husband of Judith A. Platt (Rogers).

He was the son of the late Lester O. Platt, Sr. and Mary Platt and was born in Fall River, Ma, where he lived before enlisting in to The U. S. Air Force in 1952. He was stationed in Frankfurt Germany, where he remained until 1956. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany) during his tour of duty.

He moved to Norwalk in 1956, where he began his 26-year career working for Automatic Signal Traffic Control Division of L.F.E., Inc. as a Traffic Control Systems Engineer.

From 1982 through 1991, Mr. Platt worked for Traffic Actuated Systems, Inc. of Ridgefield.

Throughout his years he enjoyed bowling, coaching youth sports and a love for the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of the Laurels Athletic Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tara Palmer and her husband Michael of Norwalk, CT, Shawn Platt and his wife Amy of Bethel, CT, and Scott Platt and his wife Sandra of Trumbull, CT; 7 grandsons.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Schlemmer.

Calling hours will be from 4:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Collins Funeral Home located at 92 East Avenue Norwalk, CT. A private burial will take place on a later date.

    So sorry to hear of your loss. If there is anything we can do please don’t hesitate to call. You will be in our prayers. I can still hear Lester playing the banjo with his dad at your house on Christmas Eve many years ago.
