Lillian Epstein, 94, of Somerset, New Jersey, formerly of Norwalk, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, in the Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence, in Somerset. She was the wife of the late Jerome “Jerry” Epstein.
Born in Sharon, daughter of the late Harry and Anna Marcus, Mrs. Epstein and her late husband were co-owners of Sanitary Cleaners for over fifty years. She was a long time member of Congregation Beth El, Hadassah and Past President of Sisterhood Beth El. Mrs. Epstein was also a volunteer for the Red Cross and Past President of the Edith Stein Residents’ Association. She enjoyed boating on Long Island Sound and traveling to Mazatlan, Mexico.
Mrs. Epstein is survived by her three children; Richard Epstein and his wife Gail, of Norwalk, Roberta Goldstein and her husband Jerrold, of Somerset, New Jersey, and Neil Epstein and his wife Faith, of Trumbull, a brother; Jack Marcus, of Danbury, son-in-law; Frederic Harrison, of Briarcliff Manor, New York, eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Another daughter, Leah Epstein Harrison, preceded her in death.
Services will take place Sunday at 1:00 P. M., in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue. Rabbi Joseph Ron Fish, of Congregation Beth El will officiate. Burial will follow in Independent Hebrew Society/Temple Shalom Cemetery. Shiva will be observed locally at the home of Richard and Gail Epstein.
