Marion Daley Smith

April 2, 1924 - March 8, 2012

Marion Daley Smith passed away on March 8, 2012 in the Norwalk Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Daniel Michael Smith.

She was born in Shirley, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Francis J. and Bridget Gately Daley. Upon her marriage in 1947, she moved to Norwalk, the home of her husband.

Mrs. Smith was a 1942 graduate of Ayer High School, Ayer, Massachusetts.  She was an Executive Secretary for the Town of Westport and for Pensar, Inc. of Norwalk. She was Chief Clerk for the State of Connecticut Labor Department in Norwalk and retired in 1984.

She was always happiest when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren visited; what wonderful memories we will always have.  Her door was always open to us; her listening and compassion along with her fabulous sense of humor will be sorely missed.  She was an avid reader and loved being surrounded by her books.

Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law Daniel M. and Karen of West Jordan, Utah; William M. and Teresa of Budd Lake, New Jersey; Thomas D. and Barbara of Shelton, Connecticut and two daughters, Elizabeth A. Smith of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Barbara J. and Robert Swain of Norwalk, Connecticut. She has 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Lisa M. Smith in 1980 and three brothers, Gerald F. Daley, Thomas H. Daley and William M. Daley and two sisters, Mary L. Curran and Margaret A. Mirley.

The family would like to give thanks to the Intensive Care Unit and Hospice Unit of the Norwalk Hospital for taking care of their Mom with such dignity, respect and grace.
