Marion Veronica Beke, 93, of Norwalk, wife of the late Joseph ‘Joe’ Beke, died peacefully Sunday at home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Norwalk, March 6, 1922, daughter of the late Antonio and Victoria Macaluso, she was a lifelong city resident. Mrs. Beke graduated from St. Joseph School and was a 1939 graduate of Norwalk High School; continuing on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Katharine Gibbs College. She retired as a librarian at Norwalk High School after over twenty years with the Norwalk School System. Mrs. Beke was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Survivors include a son; William J. Beke and his wife Sherrie, of Norwalk, a daughter; Ellen Beke Cyr and husband David, of Cumberland, Maine, two grandchildren; Sarah Beke, of Norwalk, Erica Beke Hocking, and her husband, Ryan, of Guilford, three great grandchildren; Phoenix Gardella, Cassidy and Hunter Hocking.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 11th, at 10:00 A. M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions to 4 Nurses at Work, c/o Chantal Coffy, 9 Michael Street, Norwalk, CT 06854.

    My condolences to you both for the loss of your mom. She is a part of my childhood memories which I cherish. I remember that she treated me like one of your family. I cherish the memories of the times she took me along with you Ellen to Compo Beach. That was so fun.
