  • Dear Bernie,
Working with Midge, and getting to know you both were highlights of my time in Norwalk. Midge would always stop in my office to say hello on your return from Sarasota, and it always brightened my day. My thoughts are with you.

  • To Bernie, Heidi, Hank, Laurie and your families,
A bright light in this world has gone out. I was so sorry to learn of Midge’s passing. I’m sure you need no one to tell you what a wonderful woman she was. But I hope it helps in some small way to know that she has touched so many lives with her wit, her warmth and her desire and abilities to make a difference in this world. She will be missed and I count myself lucky to have known her.
    Thinking of you all,

  • Dear Bernie,

It was a pleasure to have known Midge. She served the Norwalk Public Library system the same way she lived her life, from the heart and with gusto. I enjoyed getting to know her when I began working with the system. She passionately spoke of the projects on which she had her students work when she taught middle school. It was apparent that her care for all types of people went beyond lip service. It was always wonderful to see the two of you upon your return from Florida. The love and friendship you two shared was simply beautiful.

My heart is with you and your family.

  • Dear Bernie:

I know I speak for my colleagues, past and present, on the Board of the Friends of the Norwalk Public Library System in saying that Midge was a cherished member of our team for many years. Whether working on book sales, managing the annual Staff Appreciation luncheon, or speaking up from her personal knowledge as a volunteer in South Norwalk, Midge was a thoughtful and compassionate advocate for the library community. Especially during the book sales, we had time to talk. She loved her life with you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss.

  • Dear Bernie,

We were so saddened to hear about Midge’s passing. We were away for the holiday weekend and just heard the news today, or we would have made it to the services to pay our condolences. You were both such wonderful neighbors to us back in Silvermine, and we always look forward to seeing you by the Ledgebrook pool when we go to visit Dad and Maria during the Summer. Midge will be greatly missed, and we feel fortunate to have known her.

    Lots of love,

    Nora, Rob, Grace and Jay
