Mary Cenatiempo


April 18, 1932 - September 2, 2011

Mary Cenatiempo, age 79, a Norwalk resident, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Stamford, CT on April 18, 1932, she is the daughter of Virginia Grasso and the late Vincent Grasso. She is predeceased by her brother, Frank Grasso. Mary was a loving, kind and generous person who toached many lives throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by many.

As a trained operetta singer, Mary loved to sing for the Lord in church and at many other events. She loved to cook, spend time with family and friends and share her faith. She was the head CCD Coordinator at St. Matthew Church and she served as co-leader of the St. Matthew prayer group along side her husband, Sal, for many years. In addition, she was instrumental in implementing the program for The Hearing Impaired for the Norwalk school system as well as served as a teacher’s aide.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Sal Cenatiempo, three daughters, Linda McBride of Prospect, CT, Cathy McKee of Lakeland, FL and Ginny Cenatiempo of Norwalk, CT and one son Steve Cenatiempo of Norwalk, CT. She also leaves behind six grandchildren who she adored, Michael McBride, Carrie Ann Whalen and husband Sean, Matthew McKee and wife Deina, Andrew McKee and wife Kristen, Daniel McKee and Christopher McKee as well as four great grandchildren, Landon, Alaina, Abby and Reese.

  • To Sal, Ginny, Steve and family, I am so sorry to just learn of Mary’s passing, I remember her as a wonderful, good , kind person who lived her faith and was selfless to others. She will always have a special place in my heart. I am sorry I missed her funeral, just haivng returned Sunday from Kansas where I live part time with my son James.
