Mary D. Conway
August 24, 1928 - August 7, 2018
Mary D. Conway, 89, wife of the late James J. Conway, passed away Tuesday, v at the Danbury Hospital. She was a resident of Wilton, CT for 21 years, before moving to Florida.
Born August 24, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Connolly Cloherty.
Mrs. Conway was a proud and active businesswoman whose greatest joy after her retirement was working part-time at Stepney Elementary School where she truly enjoyed spending time with children. She was also an active grandmother who adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband James, she was predeceased by her oldest daughter Dr. Sheila Conway and by her grandson Clayton Washeba.
She is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Neville of Ansonia, CT, Denise Nelson of Stratford, CT and Patricia Conway and here husband Jonathan Segall of Monroe, CT; by her son James Conway of Nashville, TN; by eleven grandchildren, John Neville, Paul Neville, Katie Lynch, Jeffrey Nelson, Christopher Nelson, Shannon Nelson, Sean Conway, Devin Conway, Brendan Conway,Matthew Conway and James Conway. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Friends may call on Thursday, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church 229 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, 70 Ridgefield Road, Wilton, CT
