Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother

Mary P. Venezia, 93, of Unionville, formerly of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Friday, September 21st, in UConn  Medical Center, Farmington.

She married the late Ralph P. Venezia, Sr. on December 28, 1940 at St Mary’s Church.

Born in New London, August 25, 1919, daughter of the late John and Jennie Reale Doyle, she grew up in Norwalk; and with her late husband, raised five children here. Mary had spent the last 25 years living in Venice Florida and Unionville. Prior to retirement she had been a bookkeeper with R and T Plumbing and Heating. She was a long-time member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church and a Life Member of the South Norwalk Boat Club Auxiliary, also serving as a Board Member.

Mary loved good food and will be remembered for her wonderful holiday meals. She enjoyed socializing and playing cards with family and friends. Her favorite calling was that of being a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include one son; Ralph P. Venezia, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Waitsfield, Vermont, three daughters; Barbara Thompson and her husband, Mike, of Wells River, Vermont, Jacalyn Coyne and her husband, David, of Farmington, and Kathryn Rockholz, wife of the late Philip, of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, a sister; Mildred Griebel, of  Tennessee, nine grandchildren; Deb Leduc and husband Ray, Eric Venezia and Jennifer Faillace, and her husband Francis, Reid Coyne and fiancé Lisa, Keith Coyne and wife Erica, Karen Coyne and husband Anthony Rokosa, Kristin Burgess and husband Cody, Julie Rockholz, Vanessa Rockholz and husband Rohel De La Cruz; also eight great grandchildren; Kimberly and Sarah Leduc, Mckenzie and Haley Coyne, Zora Rokosa, Jazlyn and Alannah Burgess, Phebie Rockholz, all of whom brought great joy to her later years.

Mrs. Venezia is predeceased by another daughter; Mary Louise Parisi, a grandson, Paul Rockholz, and two brothers; John P. Doyle and Joseph Doyle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 A. M. in St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Place. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.

Friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 5:00 to

8:00 P.M.

  1. Mary was a sweet, funny and engaging woman. We will miss her at family picnics and dinners and will always remember her quick wit and kindness. She will remain in our hearts.
