Mary Vishnosky Schmitzer
October 23, 1917 ~ May 22, 2012
Mary Vishnosky Schmitzer, age 94, beloved wife of the late Alfred Schmitzer, entered into eternal rest on May 22, 2012 at Danbury Hospital.
Born in New Canaan in 1917, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Magdeline (Nawaednosky) Vishnosky. She had been a long time Norwalk resident retiring from Harlic Bag and Leather Company in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Norwalk until she moved to River Glen Health Center in Southbury in 2008 where she resided until her passing. She had enjoyed reading, going to casinos and visiting her children and grandchildren. More recently, while at River Glen, she enjoyed playing bingo and winning prizes for her great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane and her husband W. Wayne Lathrop of Southbury, CT, and Linda Crist of VA. Grandchildren, Heather and Dan Murphy of Southbury, CT, William Lathrop Jr. of MA, and Shannon and Vic Oricchio of Brookfield, CT, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Nicole and Caitlin Murphy and Drew and Sean Oricchio. She also leaves her “adopted grandson” Brian Fortier and good friends Jim and Betty Pearson.
She was predeceased by three brothers, a sister and son-in-law J. W. Crist.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at River Glen, especially Sunny Ryan, for their devoted care throughout the years.
Friends may gather at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, May 29, at St. Mary Church, 669West Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
