Matthew Scott McCoy

Matthew Scott McCoy, 43, husband of Alyse Rosner McCoy of Westport, passed away Monday November 7, 2011 at home after a valiant battle with cancer. Born July 16, 1968 in Ypsilanti Michigan, he was the son of Walter and Nancy McCoy.
Matt graduated in 1986 from Ypsilanti High School and from the University of Michigan in 1990, where he played Nose Guard for the Wolverines football team. Matt spent seven years coaching Division 1 Football at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University before embarking on a career in business, ultimately co-owning his own telecom company, IQ Telcom. Matt’s passion for coaching carried over into his life in Westport where he coached his sons’ teams including Youth Soccer, Little League Baseball, Rec Basketball and PAL Football.
Matt is survived by his wife Alyse, sons Ari and Zachary, and his parents, Walter and Nancy McCoy. He is also survived by his brother Christopher McCoy and one niece, 3 nephews, many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Services were held November 9, 2011 at Temple Shalom followed by burial at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, CT.
