Melvin T. Taverner

Melvin T. Taverner, 92, of Norwalk, husband of the late Anne Moran Taverner died Sunday, March 15th in Autumn Lake Senior Living in Norwalk.
Born in Staten Island, NY he was the son of the late Melvin and Anna Mulligan Taverner. Mr. Taverner had been a Norwalk resident since 1976 and prior to retirement he worked for Texaco/Oil as an accountant. He served with the U.S. Army in WW II.
Surviving are his children, Anne Marie Cotter and her husband Edward of Norwalk and Richard Taverner and his wife Virginia of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Edward Cotter, Stephen Cotter, Stephanie Cotter, Dylan Taverner, Melanie Taverner and Daniel Taverner. Mr. Taverner was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Cotter and two brothers, Leroy and Richard Sennett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 20th at 10:00 AM in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
Friends may visit with the family Friday , March 20th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.
