Michael J. Parillo

April 8, 1956 - February 14, 2013

Michael J. Parillo, age 56, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Phyllis Mete Parillo, passed away from cancer complications on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by close family. Mike was born April 8, 1956 at the Norwalk Hospital to Dominick and Arlyne Garfield Parillo.

Mike worked for many years as a house painter and carpenter. He had a life-long love of music and was a talented guitarist who enjoyed practicing and playing his favorite rock tunes in his home studio. Mike had an equal love for animals. He was an avid reader of non-fiction who loved to work at the computer and solve all kinds of puzzles including Sudoku and crosswords. He always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress on the table. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren and niece and nephew who he absolutely adored and who all adored him.

In addition to his devoted wife Phyllis and beloved parents Dom and Arlyne of Westport, Mike will be lovingly remembered  by his sister Julie Parillo of Westport, brother Pete Parillo and his wife Dana Parillo of Trumbull; his cherished niece Jessica Parillo and nephew Danny Parillo; step-daughter Melissa Ross Donovan and her husband Neil Donovan of Stratford; beloved grandchildren Marybeth Donovan and A.J. Donovan; grandmother Anne Garfield of Norwalk; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mike will also be missed by many of his close childhood friends with whom he had a special bond.

A private service will be held at Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk, CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to either the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or Westport Humane Society 455 Post Rd. E. Westport, CT 06880.

  • My heart goes out to you Phyllis, Arlyne, Dom and families. There are so many happy, funny and touching memories of “Big Mike”: pool parties, slip and slide, picnics, prime rib dinners… he was a true friend and gentleman. I have no doubt that Mike and Bill are getting into all kinds of trouble together right now! Mike, I will miss you, but I will never forget you.

  • I will miss the man and great times we had playing music, shopping for instruments, having lunch or intelligent conversation. I truly loved the man and send my sincerest condolences to all his family. I hope one day Rob, Rich, Jimmy and me will get together and remember the fantastic times we had in the band, and play a few of his favorite tunes. Play on Mike… you will in my heart… “G”
