March 9, 1955 - December 4, 2014

Michael Mead Schmitt, 59, husband of Paula Lances Schmitt of Danbury, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, December 4, 2014 with his family at his side.

Born March 9, 1955 in Stamford, Ct. he was the son of the late Michael Carl and Ann Mead Schmitt of Wilton Ct. Michael was also the grandson of the late, local artist Carl Schmitt and wife Gertrude of Silvermine, Ct and the Honorable Stanley P. Mead and Esther Mead of New Canaan, Ct.

In addition to his wife Paula, He is survived by his two brothers Christopher Schmitt and his wife Kimberly Mithun Schmitt of Newtown and Matthew Schmitt and his wife Susan of Wilton. He is also survived by his sister Ann Schmitt and her husband Stephen Morley of Georgetown, and 5 nephews.

Michael had a varied career from vice president in Banking in the 80’s, to working in the specialty gas industry performing installations and deliveries, ultimately coming to work for Airgas in Greenwich, CT. for the last 15 plus years.

Michael will be fondly remember by all who knew him for his keen intelligence, dry sense of humor, kind heart and unfailing generosity.

I do not know if you will remember me; I met you through Marianne Bobrowski when you were room mates in downtown NewBritain. Marianne has been a victim of MS for 20yrs or more and I visit her at a Meriden nursing home whenever I am able. if you should receive this communique I hope it finds you well. An Old Friend..
