December 24, 1939 ~ February 16, 2014

 Michael Tucciarone , 74, husband of Margherita (DiMeglio) Tucciarone (from Ischia, Italy), of Norwalk, passed away Sunday February 16, 2014  at Florida Hospital Kissimmee .

Born December 24th, 1939, he was the son of the late Adolfo and Civita Tucciarone from Minturno, Italy.

Born Michele he changed his name to the American version when he became an American citizen upon his arrival with his much loved family in July 1954. Having survived the hardship of being a refugee across the Italian countryside to Calabria during World War II, made him fond of food and all the things necessary to have food. During this time, while following the American troops as they pushed the German army north out of Italy, started his love for America that lasted his entire life. He graduated the 5th grade in Italy and at 10 years old started his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker. After arriving to America, he attended Benjamin Franklin school in Norwalk and would wake up before dawn to deliver bread for Cassone bakery. At 18, he returned to woodworking as a union carpenter where he put to use the skills he learned as a child in Italy. He continued to work as a master carpenter through his retirement. A story teller from childhood he would captivate friends and strangers alike with his big smile and colorful stories. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed cooking at the Saint Anne’s club and the Knights of Columbus in Norwalk where he was a lifelong member. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Margherita, his sons Adolfo and his wife Allison , Luigi and his wife Doris, his daughter Maria Smerekanicz her husband Michael, and 6 grandchildren Victoria, Brian, Megan, Michael, Olivia, and Madison. He is also survived by, his brothers Anthony, Vincent and Matthew, his sister Victoria Treglia and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister Rafaela Spagnuolo.

Friends may call Sunday, February 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. The members of the Saint Ann Club will gather at 5:00PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 24, in St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. , Internment will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
