Neil E. Buckley


Neil Edward Buckley, 83, passed away Wednesday, at the home of his youngest daughter, Moira MacKenzie, in Chittenden, VT. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family.

Born December 22, 1931, in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late State Representative Frederick William Buckley and Anne Rose Buckley.

Mr. Buckley attended Fairfield Preparatory School and Norwalk High School, and then spent time in the Naval Reserves. He spent his career in the commercial heating and cooling business, working independently then retiring from J.P. Salmini Co., Inc. He was a long-time member of the United Association Union of Steamers and Pipefitters – Local 777. Upon retirement he was a partner at Murphy’s Market on Main Street in Norwalk.

He is survived by his 10 children: Fredrick (Rick) of Westport, CT, Andrea Bennett of Scott Depot, WV, Nina Dunn of Rockville, VA, Beverly Schaer of Redding, CT, Neil of Lehi, UT, Colin of Springville, UT, Stephen of Branford, CT, Anne Izzi of Westport, CT, Keira Morrell of Castle Rock, CO, Moira MacKenzie of Chittenden, VT; 19 grandchildren; his twin sister Anne Marie Porco of Newtown, CT, and his sister Louise Frank of Norwalk, CT and Palm Meadow, FL; and his ex-wife, Beverly Waite Buckley.

He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Whittemore of Wilton, CT, and his granddaughter Erica Buckley Silber of Brattleboro, VT.

Friends may call, Monday, April 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM also at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
