Paul A. Delaney

July 31, 1933 - December 4, 2014

Paul A Delaney, 81, of Pine Plains, NY, husband of Liliane Delaney, died peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, December 4th  at Calvary Hospital with his family at his side.

Paul was born to Hypolite Delaney  and the former Mary Aucoin in Nova Scotia, Canada and had the fondest memories of his childhood – being one of 7 children.  He left Nova Scotia, joined the US Air Force and traveled the world on his many assignments in the military.  While stationed in France, he met his future wife, Liliane and  married in 1959.

After several military-related moves throughout Europe, Paul and Liliane eventually moved back to the US, settling in Flushing, NY.  Paul enjoyed a long and productive career at Con Edison until his retirement in 1993. Soon after, Paul and Liliane retired to their dream home in Pine Plains, NY which reminded him very much of his birth home in Nova Scotia, Canada.  Paul could always be found working inside his shed and building something beautiful with his vast collection of tools. Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved family gatherings.

In addition to his beloved wife Liliane, Paul is survived by his daughters Michelle Delaney and Carol Mangan and her husband, Chris.  Paul is also survived by 5 grandchildren Andrew Kousouros, Jaime Kousouros, Michael Kousouros, Kyle Mangan, Luke Mangan and great-grandson, Isaac Dunn.  Paul is also survived by his loving sisters Helen Holmes, Anne Ginty, and brother, Lionel Delaney.  He was pre-deceased by his brothers Joseph, Arthur and Amedee Delaney.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday December 9th at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk CT  from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m..  A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church  at 374 Middlesex Road, Darien CT.  on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

  • I will always remember him as a wonderful man, whom I admired and respected very much. So much, that many times I looked up to him as a Father, since I lost my Dad prior to first meeting him. My most heartfelt condolences to the entire Delaney family. May God Bless you all! Rest in Peace Mr. Delaney!

  • I will always remember Paul’s laugh. It was distinctive and contagious. And he laughed a lot at all the family functions.
