Randy Thomas Sci

October 31, 1967 - January 12, 2017

Randy Thomas Sci, our son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, passed away suddenly, but peacefully yesterday in his sleep, at his home in Norwalk. He was 49 years old.

Randy was born and raised in Norwalk, and attended Kendall, Ponus Ridge, and Brien McMahon schools. He was a gifted musician, with a special ability to play by ear, taking after his grandfather Rene Guimond. However Randy took it a step further, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Five Towns College on Long Island.

He played in many bands over the years, but was happiest and most comfortable playing with his cousin Roger Guimond. Randy struggled with his cousin’s death two years ago, and missed him greatly ever since.

Randy also had a God given gift to teach music. He was especially good at sharing his talent with children, and worked for many years at the Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk.

Randy will be missed greatly by his family including his parents Claire and Tom, older brother Chris of Boston, and younger brother Michael and his wife Jacqui from Atlanta, 4 nieces and nephews; Timothy and Victoria Sci of Cape Cod, MA, and Isabella and Joseph Sci of Atlanta, GA.

He is also survived by his girlfriend Lori Rukin and their two rescue cats; Cabo, and Chewy.

He is pre-deceased by his grandparents Joseph and Angelina Sci, Rene and Rose Guimond, and two cousins; Roger, and Raymond Guimond.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk with a ceremony beginning at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.

  1. To the Sci Family:

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Randy’s passing. I will always remember him with his guitar; playing any chance he could. He enjoyed singing nursery rhymes with children (and they loved it!) He would go out of his way to give someone a ride, or give his expertise on fish and fish tanks. He lived and breathed his music, and his beloved cats.

I will keep him in my prayers!

I am so sad and shocked to hear just now of Randy’s passing. I didn’t know him, but he seems like a wonderful son, as only parents like you two could have. My heart and prayers go out to you and all of your family.

  • My condolences to the Sci family. My son Michael worked with Randy at Seppingstones Museum. Michael said he will miss talking about rock ‘n’ roll and goofing off with Randy after work. I appreciated Randy’s friendship with Michael because he didn’t judge Michael’s hair or clothes. Michael felt comfortable around Randy enough to not be so shy. Your family is in my prayers.
