Rev. Dan Mariano

It is with heavy hearts that we bring you the news that the AGIF President Dan Mariano went home to be with the Lord today, October 9, 2014 in Norwalk, Connecticut. At the time of his passing, he was teaching the Word which was always his passion.
Pastor Mariano graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield Missouri. Upon graduation he became the senior pastor at the Assembly of God church in Nixa Missouri where he served for three years. He then came to Southern New England where he pastored in Guilford, Connecticut for 12 years. Dan was the senior pastor at Parkway Assembly of God in Norwalk Connecticut where he has served for 42 years until his retirement on June 29, 2014. During his tenure he established a Christian school, nursery school and daycare.
He received his Master’s degree in criminal justice from Yale University. At Yale, he taught on the Holy Spirit and led Bible studies at Bush House. He was the District Youth Director, Director of Home Missions and served as a presbyter for the Southern New England District of the Assemblies of God.
Pastor Mariano served on the board of the Walter Hoving Home, a Teen Challenge affiliated ministry for women, for over 40 years. He is been a conference, retreat and convention speaker in over 20 states and has been a missionary evangelist holding crusades in many countries around the world.
He was ordained with the Assemblies of God International Fellowship and has served on the Board of Elders for the past 10 years. In January 2014, he was chosen to serve as the president of AGIF.
Pastor Mariano will be greatly missed by so many people. Please remember his wife Patti and his extended family in prayer during this difficult time.
In addition to his loving wife Patti, he is survived by his son Daniel F. Mariano and Heidi Perna of Norwalk; by his grandchildren Amanda Faith Mariano, Nicole Marie Hope Mariano, Taylor Perna and McKenzie Perna; by his sister Rose Re and brother Joseph Mariano; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Judith Diane Shamel Mariano, and by his daughter Dina Mariano. He was also predeceased by his siblings Grace Re, Emily Thomas, Anthony Mariano, Peter Mariano, David Mariano and Angelo Mariano.
Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Parkway Assembly of God, 260 New Canaan Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Services will be held there on Monday at 10:00 AM with burial following in Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Arrangements are in the care of Collins Funeral Home, Norwalk, CT.
