Reverend Ramon Figueroa

Reverend Ramon Figueroa, 86, husband of Gloria Figueroa entered into eternal glory on Wednesday August 7, 2013 in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
He was born in Lajas Puerto Rico. As a young man moved to New York, NY, lived most of his life in Norwalk, CT and in recent years, retired to Coconut Creek a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Reverend Figueroa moved to Connecticut in1954 and started the Assembly of God Pentecostal John 3:16 Church, Norwalk’s first Spanish speaking church, located on 8 Woodward Ave, South Norwalk, CT. Starting with just 8 people the church grew to over 200 members with weekly attendance of about 500 people. He also founded the Bible Institute of Norwalk. He was the Norwalk Police Chaplin for many years and served as commissioner of the Norwalk Housing Department. He retired in 2000 to Coconut Creek a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale FL, where he continued to be active within the Spanish Assembly of God Fellowship of Florida.
Rev. Figueroa is survived by his wife Gloria Figueroa; daughter Damaris Figueroa of New York, NY; son Raymond Figueroa and his wife Linda of Las Vegas NV and their sons, Raymond James, Reynaldo, Nathan and Justin; son Joe Figueroa and his wife Angela of Middleton, MA and their daughter Marisa; son David Figueroa and his wife Dorothy of Norwalk CT and their daughter Kristina and son Daniel Figueroa and his wife Judy of Bethel CT and their daughters Aubrey and Shannon. Rev. Figueroa also has 4 great grandchildren and many other beloved family members.
Friends may call, Saturday August 10th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6pm to 8pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A second viewing will be held on Sunday August 11th from 2pm to 4pm at John 3:16 Pentecostal Church, 8 Woodward Ave Norwalk, CT followed at 5pm by a Celebration Service. A Christian burial will be held Monday August 12th, beginning with a brief service at 10:00 AM at the Church, followed by an interment ceremony at Saint John’s Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave, Norwalk, CT 06850.
