Robert P DiNardo, Sr., 86, of Venice, FL, formerly of Norwalk, CT, died Friday, September 30, 2011 at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, FL after a short illness.

Mr. DiNardo was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 13th, 1925. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Nancy DiNardo. Robert graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, CT.  He enlisted into the US Navy in 1943 and saw active duty in the Southwest Pacific and was discharged in January 1946.  Robert owned and operated Norwalk Motors and DiNardo Brothers Used Cars along with his brothers for many years.  He was a commercial real estate developer in Fairfield County until his retirement in 2002. Mr. DiNardo was a member of the St. Ann’s Club, Sons of Italy, Exchange Club, Elks Club, past president of the Norwalk Lions Club, and served on the Board of Directors for the Norwalk YMCA from 1975-1982.

He is survived by his son Robert P DiNardo Jr., his wife Denise, and his grandchildren Kristen DiNardo and Robert P DiNardo III of Norwalk, CT.  He is also survived by his brother Frances DiNardo and his sisters Dorothy Aldor of Sarasota, FL and Betty Pursell of Fairfield, CT, and many nieces and nephews.    He was predeceased by his wife Florence Peluso DiNardo and his second wife Emily Molles. He was predeceased by his brothers Peter, Pat, Ralph, and Salvatore, and his sisters Cecelia, Madeline, Carrie, and MaryAnne.
