Rosaline L. Chicatell

December 26, 1918 ~ June 13, 2015

Rosaline L. Chicatell passed away quietly on June 13, 2015 with her family by her side. She was blessed with 96 years of a wonderful life and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Rose was born December 26, 1918 in New Haven, CT to Emma M Lenoci and Joseph S Lombardi. The family moved to Darien, CT in 1919 where her father opened Lombardi’s Drug Store located on the Post Road.

She graduated from Darien High School in 1936. And shortly after that she met her sweetheart Joseph F. Chicatell and they were married on November 21, 1942. Joseph was the late owner of Chic’s Service Station & Chic’s Oil Co along with his brother Dante.

Rose was the first female to be elected to the Piedmont Social Club. She was a secretary at Burndy Corp for 20 years and after retiring she and Joe traveled many places, but they loved Hawaii the most and returned there for many wonderful vacations. She had a warm and giving heart, and was very devoted to her family and loved by all of them. She is survived by her 3 children and their families, Fredrick S Chicatell and the late Margaret Welby Chicatell, Elaine Chicatell Farnum Anderson, Denise Chicatell Blore-Brown and Clifford T Brown. Known to her grand children as their beloved “Gammy” were Cheryll Anderson Wehmhoff and Dale Wehmhoff, Darren and Debra Szabo Anderson, Janis Chicatell Ford and Matthew Ford, Jodi Chicatell Hasbrouck and Caleb Hasbrouck, Vanessa Blore Vagner and Erik Vagner and two step-daughters Kim Farnum Wynne and Heather Farnum Jagodzinski, along with her 8 great grandchildren Kelcie, Kyle, Megan, Matthew, Griffin, Madelynn, Major, and Hailey and her many cousins, nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
