Sandra A. Lausten

February 15, 1943 ~ June 21, 2013

Sandra A. Lausten, 70, wife of the late John P. Lausten, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Stamford Hospital.

Born on February 15, 1943 in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Anthony A. and Rose L. (Cecchini) Antonelli.

Sandy attended Stamford Catholic High School and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial College.  She valued her education, but followed her calling to become a loving and caring mother and wife.  She lived in Norwalk for the last 43 years.

Sandy was adored by her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends with whom she shared her constant smile and joy.  She enjoyed tennis, especially watching Roger Federer, and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees.   She also had fun watching selected TV shows, especially on the cooking channel, and loved Johnny Mathis and also enjoyed listening to the music from Jersey Boys. Sandy was a wonderful woman who showed a genuine interest in everyone she met. She cared deeply for her friends and loved ones and had an amazing life with her husband Jack for over thirty years. She instilled in each person she met a gratitude for the time they shared with her. Sandy specifically loved spending time with her family and her long term loving friend and companion, Ernie Abate. Maintaining an intense bond with her grandchildren and friends, she never missed an opportunity to attend a school function or sporting event or just enjoy an evening out with close friends. Above all, it was her daughters that made her life complete.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Karen and her husband Bill Juthnas and Missy and her husband Jon Dilley of Fairfield; 5 grandchildren, Samantha and Chloe Juthnas and Michael, Owen and Ryan Dilley, all of Fairfield.  She is also survived by a sister, Carol Bello and her husband George of Stamford, and her brother Charles (Bud) Antonelli and his wife Ellen of Oceanside, California, and 13 nieces and nephews, and her significant other, Ernie Abate.  She was pre-deceased by her sister, Lillian.

Friends may call Wednesday, June 26th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 27th, at 10:00 AM in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk. 1. It’s impossible to express in words how much Sandy meant to our family. Anyone who knew her would agree that she had a life force that just surrounded her and we’re having a hard time imagining a world without her humor, light and wisdom. Until we’re all reunited on the other side, we will miss her terribly.

Sending every good thought to her family and those closest to her. We love you.

  • My sincerest sympathies to Sandy’s family & friends – how will life be without the brightness that she brought everywhere she went? But I truly believe that every time we see a sunny day, or a child’s smile, or hear a beautiful strain of Johnny Mathis, and many other ways, Sandy is right there with us all. People like this only leave us physically but spirit like Sandy’s lives on in all those who have been in her company. I consider it an honor to have known her and pray that her reunion in heaven with the loved ones who preceded her is warm and welcoming—just like her.
Tears come — how hard to lose a girl like this! But she is watching and loving you all.
    With all my love,
