Sol Brody, aged 86 of Norwalk, CT passed away on April 25, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital of Natural Causes.
He was born on March 4, 1925 in Brooklyn of Esther and Aladar Brody. He served during WWII in the US Army. In 1950 he graduated Cooper Union, NYC in metallurgical engineering. He married Molly Joyce Zimmerman on March 12, 1952. Over the years he worked for companies such as Republic Aircraft, Norden Systems and Zell Semiconductors, he pioneered in technologies are now taken for granted. In 1971, with Molly they opened up Molly Brody Miniatures, first in Westport, and then later in South Norwalk. After the death of his wife, he has been companioned with Joan Stern of Norwalk.
He was a warm and loving man. He accepted people for who and what they were. Never a man of harsh words, he carried a calm wherever he went. He traveled to many countries, from Europe to Asia. He sampled much of what the world had to offer, but never in excess.
He is survived by his companion, Joan, his son Matthew, his sister Rhea and his brother Jacob Jerome. He was predeceased by his wife, Molly, and his sister Barbara.
Graveside Services & Interment to be held on Friday, April 29 at 1 pm. This will be at the Temple Shalom Cemetery located at 143 Richards Ave. in Norwalk.
There will be a reception at Eastside Café in Norwalk after the service until 5 pm.
