Thomas Joseph Szabo, Jr.

Thomas Joseph Szabo, Jr., 61, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2019. Tommy was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, and the Son of the late, Thomas Joseph Szabo, Sr., and Connie Szabo. In addition to his beloved Mother, Connie, he is survived by, his Sister; Bonnie (John) Bartoli. Karen Lawless. Children; Jason, Nicole, Michael and Thomas, III. Grandchildren; Harley, Korrie, Brianna, Nikolas and Charlie. And Faithful Companion, his three legged Dog, Honey.

He loved Norwalk and was nostalgic, often reminiscing for hours with his Mom. He loved his Italian and Hungarian heritage also, celebrating each, with delicious cultural favorites, from meatballs, sauce, macaroni, lasagna and szalonna, to name a few… We, his family, always delighted in whatever he lovingly prepared and shared with us! We will long for, and cherish those memories especially.

His interests and abilities were many and varied, he loved his family, his dogs, good food – eating, cooking, and feeding everyone, boating and fishing, building and fixing things, reading, crosswords, jeopardy, music – his favorite of all being, The Grateful Dead, playing cards, and his friends, among many others.

During his 61 years, he touched many lives, hearts, minds, and stomach’s, with his amazing culinary gift.

If you had, the fortunate pleasure of knowing him, at some point, during his lifelong journey, you will certainly understand what has been written here.

We will celebrate his life and be comforted by the many memories he has left us. Until we meet again, Dear Tommy, may you rest easy, in God’s care, and watch over us all… We will always love you.

Please join us to remember and celebrate Tommy’s life, on Sunday, January 5th, 2020, from 12pm-2:30pm, prayer service will be held at 2:30pm, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear this news. Tommy and I went to St. Joe’s together and then ‘ran into each other’ on FaceBook a few years back. We exchanged a quick note from time to time…. Very sad. Prayers and peace to the family. Shawn (Kelly) Ayers
